Producing food in systems that enable farmers and growers to maintain their social license to operate is essential to creating value for Aotearoa New Zealand’s food  sector. The shift towards hyper transparency and a zero-carbon economy is putting pressure on these systems to transition and create new ways of working and thinking about the future. This event will explore what developments are underway to ensure that food production is changing in order to meet changing consumer needs as well as how we can work together to meet global food demand.

Some pathways may be new, but some may be already known – both are opportunities to create further value and tell the New Zealand food story better. Transforming food production requires a cross-sector approach, with farmers, growers, knowledge, research, science and Government all coming together to help establish new ways of working. What will it take to create these collaborations?

Join us as we hear from Dr. Richard Newcomb, Chief Scientist of Plant and Food, about how NZ has moved away from conventional food production to ensure production processes are responding to changing consumer needs.
