Meeting the needs of consumers, our environment and animals creates an opportunity for food producers in Aotearoa New Zealand. This Innovation Series event will focus on protein, the shift in preferences of consumers and how our food producers can respond to create value. We will explore this topic from a dietary perspective, to understand the science behind meeting our nutritional needs, a farming perspective and from a production point of view.

Once we understand the nutritional needs of consumers, we can consider what crops can be added into mixed systems or provide the opportunity for land-use transition. However, do we have the value chains available to get these new products to market? Creating new value chains requires innovative thinking and collaboration. You will hear from people who are already doing it, what it takes from multiple perspectives and what kind of capital is needed to get involved. How might the next opportunity be? How can we collaborate to make it happen?
