AgTech Hackathon

  • Massey University & Central District Field Days Palmerston North, Manawatu New Zealand (map)

The Factory’s AgTech Hackathon connects tech talent to the primary industries of Aotearoa. The primary industries need another 50,000 people by 2025, with at least 235,000 people needing to be trained in areas relevant to the industry to replace natural attrition of workers. The AgTech Hackathon hopes to help solve this problem, by connecting those in mechatronics, computer science, hardware & software engineering and agricultural fields with industry organisations who need their talent to solve current and future problems the industry face. With the growth of the agritech industry & greater technology adoption on farm, this development of tech talent is even more important than before.

Participants come together to explore industry challenges and hack together solutions. Challenges have been submitted by LIC, PF Olsen, Gallagher, Fonterra & Zespri. For more on these challenges you can visit our website.

Industry mentors from across New Zealand will be attending to help teams hack together their solutions. Mentors including representatives from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, AWARE Group and actual end users, being farmers and growers etc.
